The beautiful city of Walla Walla is one that cannot be missed, no matter where you call home. If you’reṭn or the Pacific Northwest area, then be sure to add this destination to your itinerary.
While planning your stay add these items to your “must-see-and-do-list.”
1. Wine, Beer, Cider, Spirits and More:
While Walla Walla is home to over 100 wineries, and has made a name for itself in the wine industry over the past 20 or so years, its offerings extend far beyond wine these days. Of course you’ll want to add wine tasting to your to-do list, but be sure to check out the local breweries, cider houses, and craft distilleries too. There’s so much that the valley has to offer you won’t be able to tackle all of it in one day or even one weekend. Before you leave, you’ll be planning your next trip – you’re sure to fall in love with the area.
2. Culinary Scene
As the wine industry expanded in Walla Walla, so too did the burgeoning culinary scene. From high-end dining to delicious food trucks, the town so nice they named it twice has incredible food to offer. The downtown corridor alone is packed with enough restaurants to keep you stuffed for days, but for those willing to venture outside of Main Street there are even more incredible restaurants to be discovered. In fact, there are amazing breakfast and dinner options in the many surrounding smaller communities like Dayton, Waitsburg, and Prescott. Don’t short-change yourself by waiting until you arrive to hunt down the best food options. Do some research and make time to get to some of the places off the beaten path – you’ll thank us later!
3. Outdoor Recreation:
While wine and food have dominated the talk about Walla Walla for many years, this beautiful region offers a plethora of outdoor recreation opportunities as well. From quick and easy access to river fishing on both the Snake and Columbia rivers, to winter fun at Ski Bluewood, to camping and hiking in the Blue Mountain region, to cycling the gravel, road, and mountain bike routes, there really is something for everyone. This is great news even for those who love wine and food. There’s always time to get outside during vacation and lucky for you, Walla Walla has so many offerings you’ll never get bored.
4. Entertainment
After you’ve had a chance to explore the wine, food, and outdoors, you might be looking for something else to take in during your stay. Thankfully, Walla Walla is happy to offer dozens of entertainment options. The Walla Walla Chamber Music Festival hosts events twice a year, the Walla Walla Symphony, Powerhouse Theater, Wine Country Amphitheter and more are here to fill that void. Simply check out the local events calendar when you’re headed this way to find the perfect thing to cap your visit.
